For Carolann, it might not answer the question but it puts it on the table. Deb

The temperature seemed to go up in the elevator with each rising floor. Some might think it menopause as the steam starts coming out of Monica's ears but she knew differently. It was Caroline Carly Spencer Benson Quartermaine Corinthos Corinthos. The only decent thing that bitch had done was give birth to Michael and even then she seemed help bent on ruining her grandson's life by hooking up with every low life murderous criminal that came across her path! Oh but why should Michael be different. Oh no. Carly'd done her darndest to ruin Jason's life, AJ's and now she was starting in on Emily-- well over her very dead body! Reginald had let slip over breakfast this morning that Emily was in Minnesota on Deception business! Deception!.

The elevator dings as it reaches the management floor of Deception. Monica pushes off the back of the elevator car as the doors slide open walking with purpose onto the floor and right past Elton who doesn't even have time to block her path from the office that is helpfully labelled as belonging to Carly Corinthos.

Elton charges after her. "Really Dr Quartermaine! You can't go in there without an appointment!"

"Put a sock in it, Elton!" Monica snarls, looking around for her prey. "Where is she?"

Elton crosses his arms. "I am sure I have no idea what you mean!"

Nik comes back in his office carrying a file from Laura's office with his nose buried in it. It's only once he is in the office and runs into the back of Elton that he realizes that his office is occupied by a flustered gatekeeper and an irate Dr Quartermaine. Nik shuts the folder and mentally shakes his head. What did I do to deserve this? "Dr Quartermaine. What can I do for you this morning?"

"Where is Carly?"

"At home I suspect since she didn't have any appointments this morning." course I didn't either other than supposed to be in Minnesota with Gia. I think we were supposed to go to a Twins game. Gia was going to throw out the first pitch. It's lady's night-- first 500 women get a Deception gift Package. Ten thousand dollar donation to the Boys and Girl's Club.

"She's not going to get away with it! I'll kill her before I let her get her hands on another of my kids. Emily will be safe from that maneating bitch!"

Nikolas stiffens. "I suggest you moderate your tone, Dr Quartermaine. While your thoughts are still your own, speech such as that could get you arrested or worse." Nikolas' voice is cold. He had his own problems with Carly and doesn't have time for this.

"You. You are defending her?! What kind of moron are you?" Monica laughs even though there is absolutely no humor in the sound. "Can't you see what she is doing?" Monica comes in closer to Nikolas.

Elton slides out of the way with what could only be described as a squeek. There were many things he would do, had done for the people in charge of Deception, but get in the path of a woman known for her skill with sharp objects wasn't one of them.

"You appear... distrought." Nikolas goes for the kindest description not wanting to taunt the crazed woman. "Perhaps I should call your husband for you." Nikolas makes a hand motion to Elton that Elton gratefully takes as he practically runs out of the office. Elton leaves the door open as he leaves not only wanting to know the whole scoop but also to know when he should call 911 in case of bloodshed.

"You might be blind to her but I'm not! Men!" Monica snarls. "You all think with your..." Monica points below Nikolas' belt. "I bet that bitch has a collection by her bed! Forget notching the bedpost. The gold digging bitch probably worries about lowering the value! Does she give you your balls back to you for special occasions?"

"Dr Quartermaine, you are being incredibly vulgar and I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Are you going to leave now or does Elton have to call security?"

"You don't get do you?! How long do you think it will take before Carly's pregnant?" Monica snaps her fingers. "And that fast you will be redundant! An Heir and a Spare. You're only around for as long as she wants you around. As soon as she gives Stavros what she wants she'll make sure you're out of the picture and she's in the driver's seat. I bet I even know how she'll sell it. Probably tell your dear old psychopathic father that it will be his chance to raise the REAL heir!"

Nikolas raises his voice to be heard out in the reception area. "Elton, please call security."

"Fine! I'm leaving." But before she does Monica stops to poke a well manicured finger in the middle of Nik's chest. "Stay away from my daughter! I won't have her involved in this!" Monica stalks out of the office and toward the elevators. When the doors open there are two burly uniformed security agents there. They hold the doors for Dr Quartermaine and push the ground floor button for her.

"What on earth got into her?!" Elton's eyes are wide practically bugging out at the uncharacteristic display from Dr Quartermaine.

"Not enough tictacs I'm sure." Nik says wryly. "Make sure I'm notified when Dr Quartermaine has left the property. Oh and please call my Father's house and speak to Kris Windsor. I don't think that Dr Quartermaine knows where my father lives but just to be on the safe side. Oh and Elton, make sure that Dr Quartermaine is not permitted on the property in the future. If Carly had been here instead of me..."

Elton shudders. "I'll get right on that."

Em and Gia walk thru the department store inspecting the set up for the meet and greet. Em has a rolling pilot style piece of luggage where she'd packed all the necessities for the day. It isn't cool but it does get the job done without putting strain on her back or throwing her shoulders out of alignment. The representative of the store rushes up on them, ready to gush and be star struck until she gets her first look at Max and stops dead in her tracks-- her eyes are wide and she gets deathly pale... as if unable to help herself she mutters. "Does he have a gun?"

Gia and Em both look at Max in disgust.

"What?" Max looks from one to the other. "Why are you looking at me like that?" A shiver of fear goes up Max's spine.

"How much time do we have until the doors open?" Em asks the store rep.

"About half an hour, I guess."

"Perfect." Gia nods. "Can you take my supplies over to the table. We'll be right back." She starts pushing Max in the direction of the men's department.

"What do you think you're doing?" Max starts dragging his feet.

"You can't be scaring the customers." Em declares.

"Right. We're not at a car show for goodness sake." Gia agrees. "There are going to a lot of ladies, probably teenagers here, they can't all wonder if you're... packing heat. Em?"

"I'm on it just don't let him get away." Em heads to the racks. Size. Size. Hmm guess go with a large. "What size pants, Gia?"

Gia stands next to the dressing room door. "What size pants, Max."

"You're not getting me out of my pants. The boss will kill me."

"If I'm not happy then Em won't be happy. If Em's not happy then yes, Jason will kill you. What size pants do you wear, Max?" With a moan a quiet voice comes from the other side of the curtain as Max tells Gia his size. Gia hollars it out to Em.

"Shoes!" Em hollars back.

"Size." Gia demands.

Max is already broken. He gives up the info without even the pretense of a fight.

Em is back with a selection of polo shirts, khakis and sweaters dumps them with Gia and then heads for the shoe department. Luckily the weather has been wonderful all that Minnesota in May could be. "The baseball game tonight too."

"Right." Gia agrees.

Max just groans. The boss is going to kill him. He jumps back when an arm reaches into the dressing room he is in. The arm is covered with clothes.

"Better hurry. We have to be over at the table in about fifteen minutes." Gia warns.

"You been hangin' around Carly too much." Max mutters.

The rep who'd set the pilot case down by the table comes racing over to the dressing area. "What are you doing?"

"Makeover on Max so he won't scare the customers. We're going to need one of those tag remover things. What ever we get just put up on bill for Deception."

Max walks out of the curtain area dressed in a longsleeved pink polo shirt that hugs his well developed frame closely. The shirt is tucked into a pair of khaki pants that are neatly belted with a narrow brown leather belt. He grimaces at the color of the shirt.

"Oh my." The rep takes one look at Max and starts drooling.

Em comes racing back with some casual deck shoes. "Here." She looks at Max consideringly and then goes into the dressing room and grabs a sweater. "And you need to try this on too for the baseball game tonight."

"Your brother doesn't pay me enough." Max snatches it out of her hand and heads back into the dressing room.

"Um... is he like... dating anyone?" The rep quizzes in a low voice.

Alexis arrives at Spoon Island at a fairly decent abet early hour. Infact she'd been expecting to go see her brother at the hospital but had luckily called ahead. Stefan was taking the day off... or rather working from home. Of course that would have nothing to do with Bobbie not being on the schedule for today.

"Miss Alexis." Alexis is greeted warmly by Mrs Lansbury. Mrs Lansbury had always been decent to her. More than decent. Cept for that period of time when Alexis had been feuding with Stefan.

"Is Stefan in his study?" Alexis already starts heading in that direction.

"Actually ma'am, he and Mrs Cassadine are having breakfast in the sun room."

That stops Alexis in her tracks and she just starts shaking her head in disbelief. "Are they decent?"

"Of course, Ma'am." Mrs Lansbury says staunchly but there is a twinkle in her eye that indicates that it hadn't been the case earlier.

"Maybe you better announce me." Alexis follows Mrs L to the sunroom and then waits until she gets the coast clear. Coming into the sunroom she shakes her head again. Stavros was so getting what he'd set up. She was tied to Jax and Stefan couldn't be more tied to Bobbie. They might as well be married. She accepts a cup of coffee from Mrs Lansbury and takes a seat. "Well since you haven't come over to see me since I got back from my honeymoon figured I'd better come see you." Alexis opens to put her brother on the defensive.

Stefan sets aside the front page of the paper with a sigh. "Alexis, I have many things to feel guilty for-- if it was my nature. Not coming to see you upon your return to Port Charles is rather low on the list."

"Just so you are keeping a list." Alexis says cheerfully reaching for a scone.

"I'll leave the two of you to figure this out." Bobbie slides back from the table and gets up. She'd had enough sibling battles with Luke to be able to see that is where this is heading.

"Oh don't go." Alexis invites Bobbie to stay. "You'll want to hear this one too."

Bobbie collapses gracelessly back in the chair. "What did Carly do now?"

Alexis gets a cagey look in her eye. "You two don't know. You really don't."

"Don't know what?"

"The $25,000 embezzled from Deception. Nikolas called me in on it a few days ago."

Stefan frowns. "It is unlike you to be so indiscreet. Isn't there some kind of confidentiality?"

"Of course there is." Alexis takes a bite of scone and then wipes a crumb from the corner of her mouth before returning the linen napkin to her lap. "Confidentiality is when the only people who know of the situation are the client, Nikolas, and the attorney, moi. Course when I walk into a room where Lucky and Stavros, as well as Stavros' thug, Kris Windsor, and then we are later joined by Carly and Jason-- confidentiality..." Alexis makes a little butterfly like motion with one hand. "...out the window."

"Oh dear." Bobbie blanches.

Stefan straightens. "Carly and Jason arrived together?"

Alexis laughs. "Trust you to get straight to the best part."

"Oh dear." Bobbie says again.

"Stavros, of course, wasn't happy that his little friend arrived on the arm of one of her old flings... he decided to get in Jason's face." Alexis grins as she shares the info with some relish.

"Get to the point." Stefan says with a stony face tiring of his sister's taunting.

"I just can't decide what was more amusing. Stavros telling Jason what Carly will and won't do. Or Jason..." Alexis leans in so she is only about a foot away from Stefan. "... telling Stavros that he was too loud and too close just like his brother."

"I need to call Carly." Bobbie makes a hurried movement away from the table.

"Oh I wouldn't bother." Alexis says easily even though Bobbie doesn't slow. "When I left last night she seemed to have everything in hand."

"You left!" Stefan protests that one startled out of his ire at being compared in any way to Stavros. "What do you mean you left?!"

"I mean I called Jax and told him to come pick me up. I gave Nikolas the information he wanted; there was nothing more to do there."

"Why didn't you call me last night?"

"I did wonder why you weren't there since everyone else was." Alexis frowns. "I can't believe that Nikolas didn't tell you about this." She shrugs. "Aren't you at all interested in who embezzled the $25,000?"

Stefan waves a hand impatiently. "Stavros will not allow anything to harm Caroline-- not while he is so fascinated by her."

Alexis breaks with all etiquette as she rests an elbow on the table and her chin in the palm of her hand. "Something upon which we agree. The real question is... what will he do to his wife for putting their son in the position of trying to cover for her?"

"Laura stole the money?" Stefan says in disbelief.

"Well of course Laura took the money." Bobbie asserts coming back into the room with a cordless phone to her ear. "Damn voice mail... Caroline, this is your mother. Call me by noon or I'm coming over there." Bobbie hangs up the phone with a click of a button. "If Carly had stole it then she wouldn't have gotten caught or she would have been long gone when it all came out."

"I do so love the hair split you Spencers do between not guilty and not caught."

"Something we learned from the Cassadines." Bobbie lies in a smooth retort.

Alexis rises from the table. "Tell Mrs Lansbury that her scones were excellent as always. I'll call when Jax and I decide to have a dinner party."

Bobbie waits until Alexis is out of the room. "She's trying to cause trouble." Stefan holds out his hand for the phone and calls Nikolas at Deception. "And it looks like she is going to succeed." Bobbie mutters.
